Two Michigan health insurance programs for children are helping Lenawee families pay for doctor visits and medical bills. The Healthy KIDS and MIChild programs insure children from birth to 19 years of age. Healthy KIDS is free and can be used as supplementary insurance. MIChild has monthly costs as low as $10. The Lenawee Health Department is helping parents with the 15 minute on-line registration process."Regular medical care is critical for the well-being of young children," says Mary Vallad, Director of Nursing at the Lenawee Health Department. "These programs can provide that for families, especially during these tough economic times."
